Warwick racecourse to host the Betfred Classic Chase Day, its richest raceday, this Saturday
WARWICK RACECOURSE host its richest raceday of the year on Saturday (January 16) with close to £150,000 on offer at Betfred Classic Chase Day.
The county course will welcome the country’s top trainers and jockeys all looking to follow in the steps of horses including West End Rocker, Shotgun Paddy and, most recently, Hawkes Point.
All races are expected to draw big competitive fields, however there is no question that the main races of the afternoon are the Betfred Classic Chase and the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle.
Won previously by stars including The New One, Deputy Dan and Three Musketeers, the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle has proved the ideal stepping for horses aiming for festival glory.
Cheltenham Festival hero Inglis Drever also triumphed in the race 12 years ago and went on to add the prestigious World Hurdle to his CV on three occasions – in 2005, 2007 and 2008.
New General Manager Andre Klein said this Saturday is one of the most exciting fixtures in the course’s calendar and will be a great way to start 2016.
Andre added: “The quality of the racing will attract some very good horses including some who could go on to be household names at the biggest races later in the season including the Crabbie’s Grand National.
“Since becoming an all-jumps course in 2014, building a strong following in the local community as well as attracting racing fans from across the country has always been a key focus for us.”
A huge crowd of over 5,000 turned out on New Year’s Day to soak up the party-atmosphere and Andre was full of praise for the racegoers who spent their New Year’s Eve at Warwick Racecourse.
“There was a fantastic atmosphere at our New Year’s Eve Raceday,” said Klein.
“We’re delighted to be following this up with another prestigious meeting which should attract another bumper crowd.”
“We’re working on several new promotional initiatives as part of our aim to make Warwick the best small jumps track in the country and we look forward to sharing these exciting plans with racegoers shortly.”
Tickets to the main enclosure are available in advance at £10 until
Racing starts at 12.40pm with racing running until 4.10pm.
